This week your students started typing their personal narratives in writing. We also closed out division in math. In reading, we working on point of view in literature and tried to understand an ant’s point of view through Two Bad Ants.

Next week, we will close a few reading standards and finalize our understanding of how a character or narrator’s point of view move a story along. We will finish our personal narratives in writing and start a performance task assessment.
In math, we work start a unit in which students will tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. This is often a tough transition as we have been working with multiplication and division for some time. Ask them to tell you what time it is as often as possible. Also, PLEASE make sure your students continue to practice math facts. This will be part of their homework as we continue into other standards.

We will present our totem poles to the class next week. They are beautiful! We will also work on comparing and contrasting different indigenous tribes of North America. We will also close out our primary election. Ask your student to which candy they’ve dedicated their support. They are all quite excited at the prospect of campaigning.
Homework:
Next week students will have a homework packet. They can also still complete digital homework, but I would like students to read the article for reading next week. I would also like ALL students to complete fluency. I’ll have a homework packet on the website by the end of the weekend as well.
Thanks to all of our Veterans for your service! Enjoy your three day weekend!
