First Week 2019

Welcome!

I was so happy to meet all of you last week at meet the teacher.  If you were unable to attend, I understand completely.  I will send all of the materials I handed out on Friday home with your student.

I also added a few of the items on my forms page for easy reference.  The chromebook forms are on my Forms page.  I’ve also uploaded the 2019 Meet & Greet paperwork and the QR Survival page.  Most of the information on the Meet & Greet paperwork can be found on this website, but I understand people may prefer a paper copy.

If you have not filled out the survey about how you would prefer to be contacted, please do so.  It isn’t long, and it helps me make sure I am communicating in a way you hear me.  That link is here:  https://forms.gle/EaQHDC5iWWytAYLb8

Curriculum

This week we will start building our community in our writing program, Being a Writer.  The class will create an anchor chart of expectations for writing time and work to define how each student can become an author.

Students will be introduced to our behavior management program http://www.classcraft.com.  Through this program students can earn class rewards, armor, and pets (in software) by helping others, being kind, and showing teamwork.  I encourage you to sign up for a parental account via the website or iOS or Android app.  It is free.  I’ve also included instructions on how to sign up in your student GO folders which your students will bring home this week as well.

We will read a variety of read alouds this week about classroom expectations and a community of kindness.  At the end of the week, we will begin working on our first writing narrative.

We will also work together and become a community this week.  Our theme this year is Thunder Boelters Are All In!  Students will participate in a variety of team building exercises.

Please make sure to turn in all required school forms placing by them in the Return to School side of your student’s GO Folder.

If you have any questions, you can contact me via email until we establish a preferred contact method.  Thank you for trusting me with your student’s education! We are going to have a great week and a better year!
