Communication!

I know that I offer a lot of options for communication and we use a variety of programs in class.  I do this for a few reasons.  I want to communicate to you in the way you prefer communication.  I want our lines of communication to be strong so that we are the best team for your student.  I was talking to a few parents tonight after school, and I mentioned that we are in a place where our kids/students are already ahead of us in the technology curve.  So, we’re swimming upstream constantly.  They’ve been exposed to considerable technology their whole life which is completely different from our experience depending on our individual ages.  This is why I use a handful of programs for each subject.  I want to keep it fresh, and if your students are engaged, I want to keep them engaged!
Remind:  If you prefer remind for communications, please join our classroom.  I’ll send the same reminder via email and via remind.  For those unfamiliar with Remind, it will send you a text message or email depending on your preference when I send an update. Our link: remind.com/join/7k6k9b
I hear all of your talk about Classcraft.  I LOVE Classcraft.  Kids enjoy games, pets, armor, and goals.  Classcraft offers all of these.
Last year, I had parents who gave their students gold (clicked a simple button on the app or from a browser) for completing chores, having a positive attitude, working with their siblings, and helping out around the house.  This is a simple way of letting kids know that we are in this together.  I put a paper invite in your student’s GO folder yesterday.  If you haven’t signed up for a parent account, please consider doing it.  It makes this whole process much more fun.  You can navigate this process from a computer with an internet browser or from the Classcraft App.

Also, I am working to set up a night to help you navigate all of these programs.  Come in to the classroom, and I can help better understand this program and other programs I’ll roll out as the year progresses.  In the meantime, here is a great link about gold for your students from parents and how it works:  https://help.classcraft.com/hc/en-us/articles/218405357-Gold-Pieces-Rewarding-good-behavior-at-home-parents-
This link also helps explain navigating Classcraft.  Know that you don’t have to understand all of the components that they understand to see their behavior notifications in class.  You can just look at the game feed to see how your student did during the day.  https://help.classcraft.com/hc/en-us/articles/218405027-Navigating-the-main-interface
I think that is all for now.
We are going to have a lot of fun this year.  We are off to a great start!
