Last week, we started our SBAC state testing. Your students really showed perseverance and worked hard. This week, we have the last of our ELA tests. We’ve been reinforcing positive mindsets and making sure students know to do their best, but one test does not define them. We will test on Wednesday this week.

Here’s our schedule for the rest of this month:

We will have flipped schedules on Thursday and Friday this week, as 4th grade is testing. Those schedule changes are noted on the digital planner.
In math, we’ll review some of our big concepts for the year which will allow for some natural reassessment. I spoke with students about reviewing their progress reports and determining which grades they would like to improve to show mastery. We may start our final unit on Geometry this week, but we will make sure to check student’s mindsets and capacity for effective learning before we start that unit.
We will be viewing the eclipse on Monday. We will have appropriate glasses and we’ll review that procedure before engaging in that activity. We will also finish up our ecosystem units in which students learn to truly understand the difference between a food web and a food cycle, including how to ecologists attempt to repair those ecosystems that are failing.
Finally, we’ll close out our coding unit with final projects. In SEL, we’ll continue to focus on integrity and honesty.
Thanks for taking part in our Top Secret project. I love watching their smiles of surprise and comfort as they read the messages you sent in. Those connections make all the difference in the world!
