Curriculum
This week, students will be diving into learning the place value of numbers as we multiply whole numbers by decimals. You can expect their Topic 3 rubrics and Proud Moments to come home on Monday or Tuesday.
Let’s continue to celebrate these successes together!
Students will be allowed to exchange non homemade items on October 31 just before they leave for the day. Students will participate in the parade and house challenge as outlined in Ms. Baker’s message: https://secure.smore.com/n/hdnmb
As we approach the holiday season, we encourage families to participate in our House Challenge Food Drive from November 4-15. This is a fantastic opportunity to teach our students about kindness and community service.
Math League

Ms. Boelter and Mrs. Akin are pleased to announce an after-school mathematical opportunity for students in grades 3-5. Following our inaugural year, where we proudly secured second place at the state level, we are excited to continue this enriching program.
The Ober Math League will engage in mathematical contests against other elementary schools, catering to students who thrive on the challenges of mathematical critical thinking. This club also offers a supportive environment for students who may have encountered difficulties in mathematics, aiming to foster a positive and rewarding experience. If you wish for your child to participate, please complete this google form: https://forms.gle/1HJRdffg1H4VFehJA or access it via the QR Code below.
To ensure a place on the team, please register by November 7, 2024. Participation is limited to students in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade. Priority will be given to students who participated in the previous year if enrollment exceeds our capacity. Club participation will be allocated based on the date of sign-up. Math League will start immediately after school on Mondays as indicated on the attached calendar, and parents can pick up their students at 4:15 pm.
We The Meeple
Ms. Boelter is pleased to announce the launch of an after-school tabletop gaming club, “We the Meeple,” for students at Ober Elementary. Research has demonstrated that tabletop gaming can enhance cognitive learning skills, which are essential for academic success. We the Meeple fosters cooperation, goal setting, team building, strategic thinking, logic, and problem-solving, all while adhering to a defined set of rules.
This club serves as a supportive environment for students who excel in problem-solving and provides a safe space for those seeking additional academic challenges. The games incorporate mathematical and scientific concepts, all within a fun and engaging non-classroom setting.
We the Meeple is open to all students in grades 3 through 5. In the event of high interest, Ms. Boelter will accept students based on the order of google form submissions until all available slots are filled. Priority will be given to students who have participated in We the Meeple in prior years.
We the Meeple will meet for the first time on November 12, 2024. We will meet on Tuesdays as indicated in the attached calendar. Students can meet Ms. Boelter outside on the left side of the school, near the dismissal area where 5th graders typically line up. The club will commence immediately after school and conclude at 4:15 p.m. Sign ups will close on November 7, 2024.
