Curriculum

This week, we will be wrapping up our unit on Dividing Fractions, with our assessment scheduled for Tuesday. I encourage students to review their notes, practice problems, and ask any lingering questions to ensure they feel confident.

On Thursday, we will begin Unit 16: Classifying Two-Dimensional Figures. You may notice this unit is being taught out of order compared to the textbook. This sequencing is intentional, as it allows students to build on their prior knowledge in a way that deepens understanding and application.

In Science, students have started working on an exciting Earth’s Four Spheres presentation. This project encourages them to explore the interactions between the geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere. Next week, we will take their learning a step further with a hands-on experiment, where students will create their own water cycle system and observe the effects of environmental changes. This will be a fantastic opportunity for them to see science in action!

Upcoming Events

We have even more exciting activities on the horizon! On March 14 (Pi Day), we go big in Ms. Boelter’s room—coinciding with our school’s Career Day. For Pi Day, students will be encouraged to bring in circular objects so we can discover Pi in all of them. If you’re able to help out by picking up pizza (a class favorite) or even actual pie, it would be greatly appreciated. Alternatives like cucumbers or orange slices are also welcome. I will coordinate further details as the date approaches. Additionally, if you’d like to volunteer for Career Day, please do so here.

Next week is also Nevada Reading Week, and we’d love to have you share the joy of reading with our class. If you’re interested in reading to our students, please send me a message via Dojo (we have books ready for you to choose from!). Plus, please see the details for our Nevada Reading Week Spirit Days below:
