Mrs. Clayton, the Tarkanian Middle School leadership teacher shared this letter with us. Leadership is an elective course at Tarkanian that does many things to better the school and community.
Tarkanian will select a 6th-grade representative before the end of this school year! If students are interested in running for a position, they need to read all directions carefully, complete the attached application in its entirety and submit it no later than May 3rd!

Math SBAC Testing days are Tuesday and Wednesday only this week. After this week, we are done!
Students who are participating in distance learning and taking the SBAC must be dropped off between 8:45 a.m. and 8:55 a.m. Please bring a school issued chrome book, if you have one, and headphones. (Do not bring your own device. The school will provide a school chrome if you do not have one already.) You can drop them off in the front of the school. Testing will end at 12:00 pm. (Note the time change.) Please meet your child in the front of the school at 12:00. Students participating in face to face learning will meet at our usual spot on the playground. They will be dismissed from their usual spot at 3:10.
Just like last week, If you have opted your child out of testing, they will need to work on unfinished work, and then Lexia and MAP Accelerator in the morning. They can join our live meet at 1:00. There will not be any live or virtual lessons in the morning on testing days. If your student has been participating in face to face learning and has opted out of testing, they may stay home on testing days and join our lesson at 1:00 p.m.

I’ve shared a Google document with students that has links to all of their missing work. If they are not taking the SBAC, they should be completing this work. Once complete, they should send me a Classcraft message and I will update the grade book over the weekend. Thank you!
We hope to have some answers this week about 5th Grade promotion. As soon as we have final details, I’ll let you know! We are just awaiting guidance from the district.

As we’ve transitioned to hybrid learning with some students at home and some in class, I’ve noticed some students accumulating missing assignments, sometimes weekly. I’m doing my best to help students complete this work, and here are a few options:
Students must email me or send me a Classcraft message when they turn something in. With distance and hybrid planning, SBAC, and daily classwork, I don’t want to miss any work they complete, so I’m asking they make sure to send me a message and let me know what they are missing.
Students should be working on those missing assignments when not in class with me. We are near the end of the year, and the time to raise grades is quickly approaching its end.

On Monday, we will complete a science experiment that requires a bottle of warm or cold water (parent choice), a Dixie cup with warm or cold water, a plastic cup, and a plate on which to set these items.

The 5th Grade Class will be making our annual legacy tiles this year. The purpose of the tiles is to decorate them with a favorite memory of years spent at Stuckey Elementary School. These tiles will be displayed inside the school building on the 2nd floor.
Legacy tiles are $12.50 plus tax and can be ordered at allfireduptogo.com. Once at the site, click on the blue Stuckey button near the top. The kits will be delivered to your teacher and you must come pick them up. Tiles must be ordered and paid for by April 23. Dates for pickup will be shared after orders are complete.
