PTA Medallion Clue #1

Good morning Stuckey superheroes!
Today our medallion hunt begins.  A Medallion has been hidden within the school zone and you will receive a clue to its location each day until it is found.  The clue will be emailed to PTA members and posted on the PTA Facebook and Instagram.  The first Stuckey family to find it and email a picture with it will win a movie night basket and bragging rights.

Clue #1

Search and search while giving it some thought.

You’ll find the medallion in a common spot.

It is accessible 24 hours a day

but posted hours you must obey.

good luck!

Calling All Career Day Parents!

Parents, please don’t forget that Friday is Career Day! The more parents we have, the better the event is! Please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080448acab2aa0fb6-2021

Curriculum

Last week we started a unit on division. Students will struggle as many of the concepts we learn are new and uncomfortable. Encouraging your student to be in class for the entire math lesson will really help their success. If you are working with your student and they express frustration, please reassure them that this is part of that growth mindset. We can do hard things! If you’d like additional practice problems, please let me know. I’ve also assigned a division unit in Prodigy this week.

Friday is Snowball Day! Though we are still in distance learning, we can share free dress days just the same. Encourage your students to wear white!

Career Day

On January 15th, our fifth grade class will participate in a Career Day. The students will be involved in career and economic oriented activities throughout the week. They are eager to listen to different careers and how impactful they are to our economy. This will be a fun and educational day for all of them.

CJH Career Day – Celina ISD

We need your help! We are looking for people who would be willing to come and share their career with our Stuckey Superheroes. If you do decide to join us and share your career, you will speak to one class of 5th graders (about 24 students), for approximately 10-15 minutes. Please share details you accomplish in your career and/or show materials they could see to help them understand your career better. For example, parents have created slideshows in Google Slides to present to the class and engaged the class in interactive conversations. During distance learning, and if permitted by your business, you could even take us on site with you, so we can see first hand what your career entails.

If you would like to join us on January 15th to share your career with our students, please sign up on the attached link! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080448acab2aa0fb6-2021

Thank you for helping us with this activity. It is a fun day and the kids really do learn a lot. It also helps them to see that what they are learning in school, can apply to real life. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s fifth grade teacher.

Career Day (Distance Learning Style) participation will be in Google Meets. Details of how to join the meet and share materials to be presented will be emailed/Remind App messaged to you once you sign-up!

12/7 Planner Including Testing

MAPs Testing

MAPs testing starts on Tuesday and Thursday this week. If you’re unsure what day your student is testing see below:

Last Names A – F – test on TUESDAY;
Last Names G – Z – test on THURSDAY

Your students will need to reboot their computers to make sure all of their browsers are up to date. MAPs will not run on out of date browsers, and this is what caused most of our issues during our last testing sessions.
